D2L is one of the great mysteries of MCTC. But it is used in many classes including Intro to Business so it is vital that you learn how to use it. Follow these simple steps to become familiar with how Brandon uses D2L. Doing so will help you become a better student in his class and others to come!
1. Go to MCTC's website. (http://www.minneapolis.edu/)
2. In the top right hand corner it will say in purple letters "Current Students." Move your cursor to hover over these words and a menu will pop up. Click D2L. This will bring you to https://minneapolis.ims.mnscu.edu/
3. Log in using your MCTC ID Number for your username. Your password will be your birthday in YYMMDD format. My birthday is April 20, 1994. My password is 940420.
4. Once you log in you will see your classes listed in blue on the right hand side. Click Intro to Business.
5. First you will see the News section. Here, Brandon posts upcoming events, what is due, extra credit opportunities, etc. Under Updates you will see how many Unread Discussion Messages there are and how many quizzes are available for you to take.
6. Under the top heading of Intro to Business you will see four tabs: Materials, Communications, Assessments & Reports.
7. Hover over the Materials tab to find the Calendar (which will tell you what things and due and when) and Content (which includes the Syllabus and grading rubrics for projects, etc)
8. Hover over the Communications tab to find the Classlist (to find your classmates and to contact them), Discussions (where you can contact Brandon and post assignments), and News (where to find all News posts that Brandon has posted since the beginning of class)
9. Hover over Assessments to find Grades (to see your progress in the class) and Quizzes (to take them online.)
10. Hover over resources for further instructions in how to succeed in this class and on D2L. (FAQ, Library Resources, etc.)
